Quando lessi Erodoto mi rimase impresso un dettaglio, un solo dettaglio: l'asportazione del naso. Gli orientali toglievano il naso per umiliare il nemico. E' un ricordo vago,forse tutto quel che ricordo di Erodoto. I romani, ricordo anche, potevano ammazzare il condannato così: lo metti in un sacco chiuso con dentro un cane rabbioso e delle vipere, e getti tutto il sacco dentro a un fiume.
