The end of imagination, 7 anni fa

Ero in India, avevo appena terminato di leggere "The God of Small Things", e in un mensile trovai il saggio di Arundhati Roy "The end of imagination".

"May 1998. It'll go down in history books, provided of course we have history books to go down in. Provided, of course, we have a future.

There's nothing new or original left to be said about nuclear weapons. There can be nothing more humiliating for a writer of fiction to have to do than restate a case that has, over the years, already been made by other people in other parts of the world, and made passionately, eloquently and knowledgeably".

Il Times of India ci ricorda che setta anni fa, oggi, scoppio l'atomica indiana.

" After spending decades as a pacifist in the homespun khadi - preaching non-alignment - it was with this dramatic statement that India donned the controversial nuclear suit. A suit that unfolded the nuclear umbrella over South Asia and triggered global sanctions".
