Kutuzov cinese

Anni fa lessi il Traité de l'efficacité di François Jullien. La sintesi della sintesi: dai greci in poi, in occidente i risultati si raggiungono modificando attivamente la realtà - pensant l'efficacité à partir de l'abstraction de formes idéales, édifiées en modèles, qu'on projetterait sur le monde et que la volonté se fixerait comme but à réaliser. Al nostro modo di vedere si contrappone il punto di vista cinese, dove l'efficacia è vista come "potenziale della situazione": il suffirait, nous disent les anciens Chinois, de savoir tirer parti du déroulement de la situation pour se laisser "porter" par elle.

E vero che noi ci concentriamo sull'eroe individualista che con le sue mani cambia la storia, andando, più o meno in linea retta, da A a B. Ma in parte questa è esteriorità, e la distinzione è meno netta, perché anche in occidente c'è una tradizione, per così dire, orientale.

In Guerra e Pace, il Principe Andrej, dopo un incontrato col generale in capo Kutuzov - i francesi sono alle porte di Mosca - riflette: «Как и отчего это случилось, князь Андрей не мог бы никак объяснить; но после этого свидания с Кутузовым он вернулся к своему полку успокоенный насчет общего хода дела и насчет того, кому оно вверено было. Чем больше он видел отсутствие всего личного в этом старике, в котором оставались как будто одни привычки страстей и вместо ума (группирующего события и делающего выводы) одна способность спокойного созерцания хода событий, тем более он был спокоен за то, что все будет так, как должно быть. Il generale Kutuzov è un vecchio che a malapena si regge sul cavallo. Forse, in occidente, si diventa orientali con l'età, quando si impara che il mondo, effettivamente, più o meno funziona così come dicono loro, i cinesi.
